Batlow
Cherries: late Nov to early Jan
Mouat's Farm is a family-owned and run orchard on the property Wyola, four kilometres north of Batlow in the Snowy Valleys, first planted as an orchard in the early 1920s. Around ninety per cent of the plantings are apples, with roughly 1,200 cherry trees plus a small amount of stone fruit and berries. You can also pick apples here.

Bilpin
Cherries: Nov to Jan
Bilpin Botanic Orchard is a family-run apple and cherry orchard at 2814 Bells Line of Road, Bilpin, in the Hawkesbury. It grows eight apple varieties, ripening in sequence from Royal Gala in February through to Granny Smith in May and June, and five cherry varieties from Empress in early November through to Sweet Georgia in January. Cherries
Bilpin Fruit Bowl is a large family farm at 2093 Bells Line of Road, Bilpin, and one of the biggest strawberry growers in the Hawkesbury, with close to 100,000 strawberry plants in temperature-controlled hothouses that let it offer strawberry picking all year round on weekends. You can also pick strawberries, apples, peaches and nectarines here.

Cherries: February to April, weekends
Pine Crest Orchard is a family-run orchard on Bells Line of Road, Bilpin, behind Bilpin Public School, and has been operating for more than 40 years. Apples, cherries, plums, nectarines and peaches are available to pick and buy by the bucket in season, with apples priced at $5 per kilo. You can also pick apples, plums, nectarines and peaches here.

Cherries: Mid November onward
Hillside Harvest is a fourth-generation family orchard at 1209 The Escort Way, Borenore, about 10 kilometres from Orange, growing fruit on the property for more than 75 years. You can also pick apricots, peaches, nectarines and plums here.

Canobolas

Borrodell Estate is a working vineyard, orchard and trufferie at 298 Lake Canobolas Road, on the slopes of Mount Canobolas just outside Orange. The orchard grows heirloom apples for flavour alongside cherries, plums, quinces and persimmons, with fruit generally on the trees from around January through to June. You can also pick apples here.

Roth Family Orchard is a family-run cherry orchard at Eurunderee, near Mudgee in the NSW Central West. Six sweet cherry varieties are grown for pick your own, ripening in sequence through the season from Earlise and Merchant through to Black Star, Rons, Vans and finally Simones, so the mix of fruit on offer changes week to week.

Stockman's Ridge is a vineyard and cherry orchard at Lidster, in the Orange wine and cherry district of the NSW Central West. Gerrys Cherries is a family-run pick-your-own cherry orchard at Nashdale, in the Orange cool climate fruit district of the NSW Central West, on land the family has farmed for more than eighty years. Picking runs through December most years, sometimes stretching into early January if fruit remains, and the orchard is normally open daily during the season except Christmas Day.

Snowy Mountain Estate is a family-owned boutique farm at 2531 Countegany Road, Numeralla, on the outskirts of the NSW Alpine Region in the Monaro. The cherry orchard sits alongside a gully leading down to the Numeralla River, at around 800 metres above sea level, and the estate says the altitude and cold conditions give the fruit better flavour and colour.
