As of Aug 2026 the orchard states it is officially closed for the 25/26 season, reopening early November 2026. Blossom tours run in September and October outside picking season. Toilets on site, visitors asked to leave them clean. Cardboard picking boxes cost 50 cents each. Bring insect repellent, a hat, sunscreen and closed toe shoes.
About Allambie Orchard
Allambie Orchard is a family run cherry orchard on 63 acres in the rural village of Wombat, in the Hilltops cherry district around Young. The Hyde family has grown cherries for pick your own visitors here since 1998, continuing an orchard tradition on the property going back to the 1970s. Entry is free and visitors pay ten dollars a kilogram for what they pick, in a pick your own only model with no professional picking positions on offer. Picking runs through cherry season in November and December, and the orchard also runs blossom tours in September and October before the fruit sets. Visits are by prior arrangement: intending visitors text their name, phone number, group size and preferred date to book a time. An on site cafe serves coffee, cherry pie and cherry ice cream, and there are toilets for visitors, who are asked to help keep them clean. Cardboard boxes for carrying picked cherries home cost 50 cents each. Visitors are advised to check the weather and the orchard's social media before setting out, and to bring a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and closed toe shoes.
