About Main Range Orchard
Main Range Orchard is a family owned cherry orchard on the Olympic Highway at Wombat, in the Hilltops region near Young, run by Tim and Jess. The first trees were planted by the Wells family in 1955, and the orchard now offers pick your own cherries each summer, handpicked straight from the tree.
Picking normally runs from mid November to late December, weather dependent, on Thursday to Sunday from 8am to 5pm. Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours, though visitors bringing a large group or wanting to pick outside those times are asked to contact the orchard first. Picking buckets are provided, and pricing is based on the weight of cherries picked rather than a fixed entry fee.
There is no food for sale on site, but visitors are welcome to bring their own lunch and picnic among the trees, and cold drinks are available to buy. Boxed, pre-picked cherries are also sold separately at the family's Boundary Road premises in Young. Because picking depends on the season and weather, it is worth checking ahead before making the trip.
