Avonsleigh Berries is a family-run blueberry and sour cherry farm in Avonsleigh in the Dandenong Ranges, established in 1980 by the Edlinger family and now run by Harald and Martine Edlinger. The farm grows its fruit without pesticides and offers pick your own blueberries and sour cherries direct from the bushes and trees. You can also pick blueberries here.

Bacchus Marsh

Naturipe Fruits runs its main pick-your-own farm on Bacchus Marsh Road, on the Avenue of Honour just outside Bacchus Marsh, west of Melbourne. Buninyong
Cherries: Dec to Jan
Ballarat Cherry Farm is a pick-your-own orchard on Yankee Flat Road at Buninyong, on the slopes of Mount Buninyong on the edge of Ballarat. Visitors can pick cherries, raspberries and blackberries in season, walking through the orchard rows, and the property also keeps goats and beehives that visitors can see during a visit. Big Fella Cherries is a u-pick cherry orchard at 38 Boundary Road, Coldstream in the Yarra Valley. Trees are grown under netting to protect the fruit from birds, and visitors pick straight from the branch.

Coldstream
Cherries: November to early January
CherryHill Orchards' second orchard is at 739 Maroondah Highway, Coldstream in the Yarra Valley, about an hour from Melbourne. It is the newer of the family's two orchards, larger than the original Wandin East site, with a big open picnic lawn, a modern cafe and tasting space, and a kids' play area that Wandin East does not have.

Red Hill

Ripe 'N' Ready Cherry Farm is a 24-acre cherry orchard at Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula, run by two generations of the Easy family since the orchard was first planted in 1947. The farm grows more than 70 cherry varieties.

Blue Hills Berries and Cherries is a Chapman family farm at Silvan in the Dandenong Ranges, about an hour east of Melbourne. The Chapmans have grown fruit on the property since 1894 and the farm is now run by Kevin and Tracey Chapman. You can also pick strawberries, blueberries and raspberries here.

The farm grows around 20 different cherry varieties, each ripening with its own size, colour and flavour, and is open most weekends from November to January for cherry picking. Cherry Haven is a family-owned u-pick cherry orchard at 470 Queens Road, Wandin East, at the end of a private lane in the Dandenong Ranges foothills overlooking the Yarra Valley. The orchard grows more than 30 different cherry varieties and welcomes walk-in visitors with no booking required.

Wandin East
Cherries: November to early January
CherryHill Orchards' original orchard is at 474 Queens Road, Wandin East in the Yarra Valley, about an hour from Melbourne. The Riseborough family planted the first cherry trees here in 1940, and the Wandin East site now covers more than 85 acres of cherry trees, making it one of Victoria's largest pick-your-own cherry orchards.

Cherries: 26 Dec 2026 to mid January 2027
Cobradah is a pick-your-own farm at 85 Monbulk-Seville Road, Wandin East in the Yarra Valley, growing sour cherries and raspberries and also running a choose-and-cut Christmas tree operation. Sour cherries are typically ready from Boxing Day through to about the second week of January, and fruit is paid for by weight. You can also pick raspberries and Christmas trees here.

Wandin North
Cherries: November to January
Lanidale, known locally as The Cherry Well, is a cherry orchard at 235 Beenak Road, Wandin North, on the edge of the Yarra Valley wine district at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges. The orchard grows more than 20 cherry varieties, from large sweet cherries to smaller tangy ones, spanning both modern and heritage types, and also grows apricots.

Usually November to January, depending on the weather. Farms announce their own dates and we carry them on each listing.
In the last confirmed season, Blue Hills Berries and Cherries charged from $18 entry. Chappies U-Pick Cherries and Berries charged around $10 per kg picked. Cherry Haven charged $15 per kg picked. Naturipe Fruits Bacchus Marsh Main Farm charged $13 to $15 per kg. Prices change during the season, so check with the farm before you travel.
5 of these farms take bookings ahead of a visit: Avonsleigh Berries, Blue Hills Berries and Cherries, CherryHill Orchards, CherryHill Orchards and Payne's Orchards. The rest are walk-in, but picking depends on the weather, so ring ahead either way.
