About Blue Hills Berries and Cherries

Blue Hills Berries and Cherries is a Chapman family farm at Silvan in the Dandenong Ranges, about an hour east of Melbourne. The Chapmans have grown fruit on the property since 1894 and the farm is now run by Kevin and Tracey Chapman. Cherry picking runs from late November to early January, with entry priced from $18 and all you can eat cherries while you are in the orchard; anything picked to take home is weighed and paid for on the way out. Berries follow through spring and summer: strawberries from early November through to April, blueberries in December and January, and raspberries from November into mid December and again from mid February.

The main farm and shop are at 27 Parker Road, on the corner of Graham Road, with two further cherry paddocks nearby on George Road and Chapman Road. Hours run seven days from 9am to 5pm through the main November to January season, with reduced Tuesday to Friday hours in October and Tuesday to Sunday trading in February to April. The farm is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Because ripening depends on the weather, the farm publishes its own fruit report so visitors can check what is ready before driving out. A farm shop sells fresh fruit for those who prefer not to pick their own, and online booking is used for cherry picking sessions.
