About Thornbrook Orchard
Thornbrook Orchard is a third generation family orchard on the volcanic soils of Mt Canobolas at Nashdale, near Orange, established in 1947. Each early summer the orchard opens to the public for pick your own cherries straight from the tree, both sweet and sour varieties: sweet cherries run eight to twelve dollars a kilogram to pick, sour cherries ten to twelve dollars, with no entry fee. Outside picking hours the farm gate also sells pre packed cherries. Coaches, bus tours and school groups are welcome by appointment, and the property has disabled access. Once the season's crop is picked out the orchard closes to the public until the following year's cherries ripen, typically through November and December, though exact opening and closing dates are announced fresh each season.
