Berries and cherries are grown in the ground, not under tunnels, and without insecticide or fungicide. The farm also sells at the Launceston Harvest Farmers Market and the Hobart Farm Gate Market.
About Sheffield Berry Gardens
Sheffield Berry Gardens is a family farm about 4 kilometres from Sheffield, at the junction of the roads to Railton and Beulah on the way to Cradle Mountain in Tasmania's North West. The farm grows a wide range of heritage strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and cherries in the ground rather than under tunnels, without insecticide or fungicide.
Visitors can pick their own fruit from late November to the end of April, when the farm is open daily from 7am to 9pm. Cherries are ready in December and January, with the various berries following on through into autumn. If nobody is on site, a self service honesty box in the packing shed lets visitors buy pre-picked punnets, ice cream and jam instead.
Outside the farm gate, Sheffield Berry Gardens is a regular stallholder at the Launceston Harvest Farmers Market and the Hobart Farm Gate Market during the season.
