Chestnuts: March and April, $11/kg

Nutwood Farm is a chestnut and walnut orchard at Mount Irvine in the Blue Mountains, reached via Mount Wilson Road off Bells Line of Road. The property has around 220 trees, mostly chestnuts with some walnuts, on a 50-acre site. You can also pick walnuts here.

  • Open: Saturdays and Sundays, five to six weekends during March and April, usually including Good Friday and Easter Monday. 9am to 4pm

Misty Mountain Farm

Misty Mountain Farm is a chestnut orchard at 4342 Braidwood Road, Sassafras, in the ranges west of Nowra on the road towards Braidwood. Visitors come in autumn to pick chestnuts themselves from the orchard floor as the nuts fall.

Pinehaven Chestnut Farm

Wingello

Chestnuts: Mar to Apr, $10 per kilo, handpicked

Pinehaven Chestnut Farm is a family-run pick-your-own chestnut orchard at 701 Bumballa Road, Wingello, in the Southern Highlands, with around 400 chestnut trees of the Marone and Prolific varieties. The chestnut season runs from March to April each year, with gates typically opening in mid March and the best abundance usually from late March into early April.

  • Open: Weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) during the March to April season. 10am to 4pm
  • Entry: $5 per car
  • On site: toilets, parking and picnic area
  • Dogs: welcome
