About Swan Valley Fresh Fruit
Swan Valley Fresh Fruit is a pick-your-own grape operation that has most recently set up at 136 Memorial Avenue in Baskerville, opposite Baskerville Oval, though the business moves its picking site around the Swan Valley from season to season, having also operated from Millendon, Herne Hill and Belhus in past years.
The vineyard grows Flame Seedless, Dawn Seedless and Melanie Seedless grapes, sold by the kilo along wide, easy to walk rows. The season runs from around December to March, with the property open Wednesday to Sunday from 8:30am to 4pm. There is no booking system: visitors walk in and pick, bringing their own bags, boxes and scissors, though scissors can run low during busy periods.
Entry is free and grapes are priced at $7 a kilo. Cash is preferred but card facilities are also available. Street parking is available on site, and soft serve ice cream and bottled water are sold alongside the grapes. Other seasonal fruit such as mangoes and watermelon have also been sold at the stand depending on the time of year. Because the location changes, check the farm's Facebook page for the current site before visiting.
