About Shields Orchard
Shields Orchard is an apple orchard on Bells Line of Road at Bilpin, in the Hawkesbury foothills of the Blue Mountains. Visitors pick their own apples and pay by the kilogram for what they take home.
Entry to the orchard is free. Picking is by booking: the orchard asks only for a name and the number of adults and children in your group. It opens on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 3pm, but only for short periods when a variety is ready, so the opening dates change from year to year. Baskets are supplied, or you can bring your own bags, and the orchard has scales on site. Payment is by credit card or PayID.
The 2026 season was cut short. Poor pollination meant only a small share of a normal crop set on the trees, and the orchard stopped taking new bookings once the fruit ran out, honouring only the weekend it had already booked. Apples are an autumn crop in this part of New South Wales, so the next picking dates will be announced on the orchard's website for 2027.
Call the orchard on 02 4567 1206 or 0427 772 431, or check shieldsorchard.com, before you set out.
