About Pick Your Own Oranges Dooralong

Pick Your Own Oranges Dooralong operates from Cedar Farm, a citrus property in the Central Coast hinterland established in the 1920s. The orchard covers 15 acres and around 3,000 trees, mostly navel oranges with some Valencia, and the fruit is grown without chemical spray.

Navel oranges are picked from around June to September, and Valencia oranges from October to November. The orchard trades weekends through most of the season, moving to open every day during the July school holidays. Hours are 10am to 4pm. A picking stick with two nails at the top is provided to help reach fruit high in the trees. Oranges cost $2.50 a kilo, with cash and EFTPOS both accepted, and entry to the orchard itself is free. Younger visitors can also take a pony ride or feed the resident sheep and cows.

The farm is reached via Dittons Road, off Dooralong Road at the Dooralong Community Hall and Oval, along a dirt road to a car park at the end. There are portable toilets and a picnic area where visitors can bring their own food. Because the orchard closes in wet weather and the parking area can turn muddy, checking the farm's Facebook page before setting out is worthwhile.
