The farm's own website states it is closed for the 2026 season because Mount Wilson Road is closed to general traffic due to escalating safety risks, and the farm gate has been shut indefinitely. In prior seasons picking ran mid March to April, 9am to 5pm seven days a week including public holidays, with no entry fee, no booking needed for visitors arriving by car, and buckets and bags provided. None of that can be relied on while the road closure stands; call or email before planning a visit. Its neighbour The Hive in Bilpin sells Kookootonga walnuts pre-picked, which is not pick your own.

Kookootonga Chestnut & Walnut Farm is a pick your own chestnut and walnut orchard at 247 Mount Irvine Road, Mount Irvine, in the hills above Bilpin. In a normal year picking runs from mid March to April, open 9am to 5pm seven days a week including public holidays, with no entry fee and no booking needed for visitors arriving by car, and buckets and bags provided on site.
As of this check, the farm's own website states it is closed for the 2026 season because Mount Wilson Road, its access road, has been closed to general traffic over safety concerns, and the farm gate has been shut indefinitely. This is a genuine closure rather than a normal seasonal gap, so call or email ahead before planning a visit rather than relying on the usual autumn dates. The farm's Kookootonga branded walnuts are also sold pre-picked at a neighbouring stall, The Hive, in Bilpin, though that is retail sale, not pick your own.
