About Knoblock's Lychee Farm

Knoblock's is a long running lychee farm at South Boambee, just south of Coffs Harbour, on the Coffs Coast. Ted Knoblock began growing lychees here in the late 1970s after a chance suggestion from a fruit merchant, and the farm has grown to around 500 trees across five lychee varieties on several hectares, making it one of the larger lychee growers in the state and the southernmost lychee growing area in Australia. In the weeks before Lunar New Year the farm has drawn hundreds of pick your own visitors, historically arriving by the busload from Sydney, wanting fresh lychees for the celebrations. Picking happens in the morning and only once the fruit is properly ripe, so there is no fixed date each year and the farm has asked visitors to come in groups rather than individually. No website or current phone listing could be confirmed for this farm, so anyone planning a visit should look for the farm's current contact details or ask locally before travelling to South Boambee Road. The lychee season generally runs from late December into February.
