Coal River Farm is a working farm, restaurant, cheesery and chocolate producer at 634 Richmond Road, Cambridge, in the Coal River Valley near Hobart, with sweeping views over the surrounding vineyards. You can also pick cherries, apricots, plums and figs here.

Appinoka Regenerative Farming is a regenerative farm at 36 Waggs Road, Mountain River, in the Huon Valley, run by Nanette and Thomas Botha. Alongside a market garden, dairy cows, sheep, laying hens, meat chickens and pigs raised on rotational grazing, the farm grows around 8,000 strawberry plants and opens them for pick your own each summer.

Littlewood Berry Farm

Richmond

Strawberries: Mid November through to May

Littlewood Berry Farm is a pick-your-own strawberry patch at 1192 Richmond Road, Richmond, run by berry grower Sophie Nichols and sitting between Puddleduck Vineyard and The Wicked Cheese Company. The strawberries are grown chemical and spray-free, and the farm has become a popular family outing in the Coal River region.

  • Open: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, plus Sunday depending on fruit availability. 9:30am to 4pm
  • Entry: $8 per person aged over 2, which includes a 'patch penny' worth a $6 credit redeemable at the farm shop on the day
  • On site: cafe and farm shop

Westerway Raspberry Farm

Westerway

Strawberries: late November through to autumn

Westerway Raspberry Farm sits on the Tyenna River flats at Westerway in the Derwent Valley, on the way to Mount Field National Park. Visitors can pick their own berries in season: raspberries from early December to the end of January, strawberries from late November through into autumn, and blackberries from early January into early autumn. You can also pick raspberries and blackberries here.

  • Open: Daily, December to May; the Farm Gate Shop is closed June to November. 9am to 5pm
  • On site: farm shop and picnic area
