About Richmond Cherries & Peonies

Richmond Cherries & Peonies is a family run cherry and peony farm in the Coal Valley near the historic village of Richmond. Sally Dakis and Chris Wisbey have been growing peonies here for over twenty years, adding imported Dutch varieties and new cultivars over time.

The peonies are opened to the public for one ticketed pick your own day a year, timed for peak flowering and usually held in late November. Visitors wander the rows of peony bushes, picnic on the grass, and cut their own blooms to take home; stems are $5 each, and potted peonies are also sold on the day. Bring your own secateurs. Dogs on leads are welcome and there is on site parking, but the event depends on the weather and has been rescheduled in past years.

The property also grows sweet and Morello cherries, quinces, pears, loganberries and blackberries, but this fruit is not offered as pick your own. It is sold at the farm gate in season and at Hobart's Farm Gate Market, Salamanca Market and the Harvest Market in Launceston.
