About Harben Vale Cherries
Harben Vale Cherries is a pick your own cherry orchard at 34 Altmanns Road, Balhannah, about 25 minutes from Adelaide's CBD via the South Eastern Freeway. The orchard opens each December through to mid January, with hours of 9am to 4pm and visitors asked to be in the orchard by 3pm. The terrain is gentle rather than steep, and picking buckets are supplied, with empty cherry boxes available to buy. Entry costs $10 for ages 12 and over, $4 for ages 5 to 12, and children under 5 are free; cherries themselves are charged by the kilogram, with the price varying as different varieties ripen through the season. Groups of more than 8 people are asked to book by SMS the night before. Both cash and EFTPOS are accepted, with a 1.9 percent surcharge on card transactions. There is a car park and public toilet on site. Because the season is short and weather dependent, check the farm's website or Facebook page before travelling out to confirm it is open that day.
