About Glass House Tropical Fruits
Glass House Tropical Fruits is a new pick your own strawberry farm at Glass House Mountains, opened in June 2026 by farmer Glen Austin on a 65 acre property that had sat dormant as a former pineapple farm. Regional coverage described it as the Sunshine Coast's only season-long pick your own strawberry farm after the region's previous option closed.
The farm is growing around 50,000 strawberry plants without pesticides or herbicides, with picking running from opening through to around November and peaking in August and September. Strawberries were priced at $15 per 500g soon after opening, expected to fall as the crop builds. Visitors can pick their own or buy pre picked punnets from the farm stall. The farm also grows sunflowers in successive plantings that can be picked or bought, plus potatoes and pumpkins.
A block of lychee trees was planted in late 2025 but will take several years to mature and is not yet fruiting. Current opening is Saturday and Sunday from 8am until the day's strawberries sell out, with weekday openings planned as production increases. Check the farm's Facebook page before visiting for the latest hours and what is ready to pick.
