About Glenbernie Orchard
Glenbernie Orchard, home of Darkes Cider, is a sixth-generation family orchard at 259 Darkes Forest Road, Darkes Forest, about 25 minutes north of Wollongong. Pick Your Own runs as a guided, pre-booked experience on selected weekends from November through to April, when visitors are taken out to the rows on the Orchard Explorer tractor train and shown how to find and pick the best fruit, with plenty of time afterwards to wander and pick their own. Stonefruit, including peaches, nectarines and plums, is available earlier in the window from mid November, with apples picking up later in the season through to the end of April. The guided experience runs about 1.5 hours and costs $60 per row, for up to five people, or two rows for up to ten people. Bookings are essential and are made through the farm's Facebook and Instagram pages. The Appleshack farm shop and cafe are open daily, serving toasted sandwiches and apple pie, alongside daily tastings of the farm's own ciders, honeymead, juice and honey. Dogs are welcome on a lead around the grassed picnic area. Visitors should confirm current Pick Your Own dates on social media before travelling, as sessions depend on the harvest and weather.
